Today We Stop to Play & Pray

As people are forced to socially distance themselves, schools have closed, bars have closed, restaurants are closed, casinos are closed, movie theaters closed, travel is banned, stores are closing, jobs are closed or cancelled, but law enforcement, healthcare workers, and other essential personnel have to keep showing up to work.

People are praying more than ever! Families are praying together! Communities are praying together! This country is praying together as the President proclaims March 15th as a National Day of Prayer! All while families are home together, both parents aren’t at work, children are home, they are playing board games, doing art, reading books, putting together puzzles, giggling, playing outside in the backyards instead of playing video games, and watching movies as they all cuddle together on their couch instead of in the movie theaters.

People are being good stewards of their money, shopping for real food, making home cooked healthy meals together, sitting together at the dinner table, eating a meal while having conversations with each other, listening to each other, parents are teaching their children homework lessons and teaching them real life lessons at home, while showing them how to be givers and offering to help others less fortunate than they are and neighbors are talking to each other and sharing staples.

People are interested in self-care more now than ever as their take their vitamins, supplements, use holistic remedies their grandparents taught them. Getting their blood flowing through movement by exercising, doing yoga, meditating, going for walks, enjoying nature, and listening to the birds chirp with their windows open as they air out their homes.

And during this time, people are washing their hands just a little bit more, keeping the elderly away from those who are sick, the virus and other flus stop spreading, people start healing physically and emotionally, families are growing closer, the smog is lessening (space satellites prove it), jobs are making people go home instead of making them stay and work sick, utility companies are restoring services despite people’s inability to pay, mortgage interests may decrease, people are being thankful for the little things.

When it is all over and things start to go back to normal, let’s all remember our new normal and the news improved ways of living we discovered. May we continue to live healthy, love harder, be more grateful, be big givers, and may we have learned and be better for it. May we continue to Pray and draw closer to our Lord, our Savior, our Healer, and our Deliverer.
