How to Start Checking off Your 2014 New Year Resolutions

This is a continuation from my blog post yesterday “58 days to check off your 2014 New Year Resolutions”.

So, your New Year Resolutions did work out for you this year huh? Or, was it you that didn’t work towards achieving your New Year Resolutions? I’m speaking to myself here and maybe a few of you too.

New Year Resolutions are just wishes and wishes are just dreams and dreams are just goals without a deadline.

Writing our goals down as we do in making our New Year Resolutions list, is a start. But for some reason we think our pen is magic and they will all come true until we hit November and start beating ourselves up for forgetting to do anything about them.

Well, you still have “57 Days Left to Check off Your 2014 New Year Resolutions” and that is 1368 hours!! Let’s get started . . .

If you have not already reviewed those resolutions you wrote down last January or couldn’t find them, go ahead and write all of them down. Next, highlight YOUR top 3. Next number them in order of importance to YOU. Now, this does not mean you cannot work on the others, but start the top 3 first.

Example:

2014 New Year Resolutions

1) Start a home based business or earn extra income without it affecting your current routine (*1*)

2) Quit Smoking/Drinking

3) Go back to school

4) Career Change

5) Be a better person

6) Change bad eating habits (*3*)

7) Get organized

8) Learn something new (*2*)

9) Be Happier and have less stress

10) Pay off Debt

NEXT STEPS:

  • Next to each highlighted resolution write one action you can do TODAY in the direction of accomplishing that.

  • Do that one thing. Yes, just one thing today.

  • Then do one more thing if more steps are required.

  • Keep going until December 31, 2014

  • Celebrate your accomplishments

Sounds easy right? Most people reading this won’t do that “one” thing. Because it is easier to do nothing at all. Don’t be that person. Make a change today. Feel good about checking off this year’s list before starting your 2015 New Year Resolutions. You can do it!
